We love being involved in Dorchester District 2’s career days! BD Laprad, David Behr, and Earl Brown visited William Reeves Elementary School in Summerville recently. They took a dump truck out to educate the students about career opportunities in our industry. The children were engaged and had a lot of questions. We enjoy interacting with our community!

The team in Quality Control is on a roll! Congratulations to Bryan Hutto on his big achievement. He recently went for his SCDOT HMA Level 3 QC Managers Certification and did fantastic.

Bryan’s been a part of the QC team here at Banks since 2007 and truly plays a key part in making that team as special as it is. We’re proud of his hard work so far, and his commitment to advancing his skills within Quality Control. Nice work, Bryan!

Here’s the thing you might not know about feather flags.

They can be a game-changer for paving crews. They not only increase efficiency but also provide more visibility on job sites.

Thanks to Paving Project Superintendent Victor Shannon for the idea, we were able to quickly implement these flags across our day and night paving crews. They’ve already made a significant impact and had a lot of positive feedback from some of the team. Here’s what some of them had to share:

Commercial Paving Field Manager Zach Sizemore: “They’ve been really helpful in certain scenarios, especially when we have two crews working on the same property. It’s important for both efficiency and design to ensure the correct material goes to the correct crews. They’re also extremely helpful on projects where entrances are more difficult for trucks to find.”

Logistics Manager Savannah Hathaway: “They are wonderful! Extremely helpful, especially when two crews are on the same job.”

Paving Foreman Henry Ford: “They are great—I love it. It stands out for the trucks.”
