A significant milestone in Banks’ history, this SCDOT project, was a brand new Interchange for travelers in the area. Thus, making it easier and quicker to access current and up-and-coming developments in the Lowcountry.
Despite encountering numerous challenges such as Hurricane Matthew in October of 2016, Hurricane Irma in September of 2017, and a shutdown for snow and ice during the winter storm of 2018. The teams involved in the successful completion of this project were able to finish on time and under budget.
Shout out to all of the teams and subcontractors involved. The new construction continues to provide access to I-26 and support a still very fast-growing Berkeley and Dorchester Counties.
