The Sheep Island Project involved the widening and modification of Highway 17 and the intersection at Sangaree Parkway. The project was designed to alleviate immense traffic congestion in the area by adding turn lanes onto Highway 17 and creating North Frontage Road to act as a detour connecting Highway 17 to Rose Drive. Evotherm was selected for its unique technology that allows asphalt application at a temperature that is lower than traditional hot mix asphalt. It is very beneficial to those traveling on the road as traffic is returned immediately after compaction. Construction began in July of 2012 and was completed in December of 2013, totaling 7,890 tons of asphalt.
