I-526 Rehabilitation

This project entailed the rehabilitation of 2.05 miles of Interstate 526 that included various types of hot mix asphalt, full depth asphalt patching, shoulder construction, cross slope verification, and pavement marking installation.  Open grade friction course asphalt (OGFC) was utilized for its ability to efficiently drain surface runoff and improve driving conditions in high volume heavy load traffic locations. Original contract tonnage was 38,564 tons.  Value engineering eliminated 13,296 tons of asphalt as well as the need to surface plane the existing roadway.
